About Us

People To People Volunteers
People to People Volunteers (PPV) is a Sri Lankan NGO established in 2006, with a mission to promote sustainable livelihoods and environmental well-being. Founded by social worker K.A. Anuradha and a group of environmental volunteers and community leaders, PPV bridges the gap between environmental conservation and community development. Over the years, the organization has made significant contributions locally and internationally, advancing environmental sustainability.
PPV launched the "Savisuru" Livelihood Development Fund to support local communities by providing financial assistance and guidance for entrepreneurship. This initiative helps communities achieve economic independence while supporting environmental preservation.
PPV's work is based on scientific research and innovative solutions that strengthen the connection between people and the environment, enhancing awareness of sustainability issues.
The organization collaborates with various stakeholders, including Ministry of Environment, Sri Lanka, Global Environment Facility (GEF), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Central Environmental Authority (CEA), Embassy of Japan, Australian Embassy, International Organization for Migration (IOM), INSEE, University of Colombo, University of Sri Jayawardanapura and the Industrial Technological Institute (ITI) . These partnerships allow PPV to continue advancing its mission and creating a positive impact at both the local and global levels.
PPV adopts a participatory approach to address socio-economic and environmental challenges, working closely with government bodies, local communities, farmer and women's organizations, small NGOs, universities, and research institutions. The organization also collaborates with international donor agencies like GEF/SGP, UNIDO, AUSAID, and the Embassy of Japan to secure necessary funding.
PPV is a member of the Sri Lanka Nature Forum (SLNF) and the steering committee of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) under Sri Lanka's Ministry of Environment. Additionally, it is a member of the International POPs Elimination Network (IPEN) and the World Wetland Network (WWN).
